The project included the supply and installation, commissioning, and start-up of an upgrade to the existing leachate treatment system with a new reverse osmosis (RO) pre-treatment
system designed to handle the combined landfill liquids flow rate of 100,000 gpd. The work included one new leachate storage tank and one new RO reject storage tank; the RO reject tank will be jet mixed. The two tanks sit inside a 6-ft tall secondary containment concrete slab/wall. The RO skids and associated equipment sit on top of a concrete slab with a 6-inch curb. The project included a new truck load out pad and a turn-around concrete pad.
As the first leachate treatment facility constructed by the company, the project presented unique learning opportunities in specialized wastewater treatment. This included coordinating with Rochem Americas to integrate their membrane skids with the existing facility infrastructure without complete mechanical design documentation. Field routing of all interconnecting piping between skids, tanks, and pumps required technical expertise and problem-solving. The experience proved rewarding, expanding capabilities into the leachate treatment sector and positioning the company for similar specialized treatment projects in the future.
