The Northside Drive Utilities & Woodward Way Pump Station project encompassed the full construction of a new underground pump station facility. Work included installation of a cast-in-place rectangular concrete wet well, five submersible pumps — two for dry weather flow and three for wet weather flow — and connection of discharge piping to the existing downstream force main. Ruby-Collins also installed control panels, a free-standing bridge crane and pump removal system, a standby diesel generator, and connected the site’s electrical system to existing Georgia Power distribution lines.
Additional site work included construction of a retaining wall, perimeter fencing with gate, site lighting and security pole mounting, a gravel access driveway, and installation of a fire hydrant. The project also involved the decommissioning and full demolition of the existing Pump Station 1, along with traffic control, erosion and sedimentation control, and complete site grading and restoration.
