Construction of a new wet weather storage facility with a capacity of 15 million gallons. This project included flow diversion from the existing trunk sewer and a series of tunnels to integrate the new storage facility. Major components include a diversion structure at the existing relief sewer, 75 MGD influent pump station, control building, 15 million gallon storage tank, dewatering chamber, and effluent junction box to return flow to the existing tunnel system.
The project includes a tunneled crossings to convey collected flow from the diversion structure to the influent pump station and return treated flow through the effluent junction box to the existing North Fork Relief sewer. Site improvements encompass GDOT coordination and improvements, Cheshire Farm Trail enhancements, and related civil site work to integrate the new facility with existing infrastructure and community amenities.
This project was located on an extremely small parcel of land at the location where multiple interstates and major highways intersect. The project included a significant excavation in close proximity to these roadways. The selected construction means and methods were meticulously planned an executed to ensure a successful project.
