Work encompasses trenchless rehabilitation on the 15 Mile Interceptor, one of the largest and most critical sewer systems in Macomb County serving the greater Detroit area. Segment 6 Phase 2 and 3 addresses approximately 12,795 linear feet of 60-inch reinforced concrete pipe that has deteriorated over decades of service, requiring comprehensive renewal to maintain reliable regional wastewater service.
The scope includes thorough cleaning and inspection of 12,880 LF of interceptor, demolition of 11 concrete manhole ledges, installation of 12,795 LF of 54″ Sekisui spiral wound liner, 582 vertical feet of manhole lining, and 50 LF of CIPP lining. The interceptor reaches depths up to 38 feet underneath 15 Mile Road, requiring high-strength cellular grout to fill the annular space between the host pipe and liner to ensure a fully structural solution. Our team is managing flow control to ensure continuous system operation while work is underway, allowing the spiral wound liner to be installed without the use of a bypass.
Located in a densely developed urban corridor, the project requires close coordination with Macomb County and other stakeholders to minimize disruption to residents, businesses, and utilities throughout construction.
