The Highway 701 to Highway 544 48″ Water Transmission Line Improvement project consisted of installing approximately 28,000 linear feet of 48-inch welded steel waterline across Conway and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The project originated at the intersection of Highway 701 and Bucksville Drive in Conway, proceeding along Bucksville Drive to the Santee Cooper Power Transmission Line, then continuing across the Waccamaw River to Highway 544 in Myrtle Beach. Installation methods included open cut, 2,600 LF of horizontal directional drill, and 200 LF of jack and bore, along with various fittings and valves throughout.
Project included 2,500 lf of pipe installed by open-cut through a wetland protected by US Fish and Wildlife as well as a 2500 lf HDD under the Waccama river in the middle. Ruby-Collins installed a wood mat road through the wetland to allow for this work to be accomplished.
