The Hartsfield-Jackson Manifold Improvements project involved the replacement of the discharge manifold piping, valves, and fittings at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport Pump Station. Ruby-Collins’ scope included site investigation and mitigation, demolition of existing ductile iron pipe and fittings, installation of new flow meters, and construction of reinforced concrete foundation slabs. Structural and architectural modifications were made to the existing pump station building to accommodate new above-grade piping, alongside temporary bypass piping, dewatering, electrical and controls work, storm drainage improvements, and green infrastructure including a rain garden and new ornamental fencing.
This project required replacement of critical infrastructure that serves the busiest airport in the world as well as areas of south Fulton county. Ruby-Collins utilized an innovative by-pass system dung construction and then coordinated with the City and the airport for when outages could occur for final connections.
