The Gravity Sewer System Rehab Design-Build Package #1 project consisted of rehabilitation and replacement work at nineteen locations throughout DeKalb County, utilizing the design-build delivery method. Phase one focused on design and GMP development services, while phase two encompassed final design and construction, including CCTV assessment of approximately 23,020 LF, 18 point repairs, 5,282 LF of CIPP lining, and 25,004 LF of pipe replacement ranging from 8 to 24 inches in diameter. Work methods included open-cut, pipe-bursting, manhole rehabilitation and replacement, and cured-in-place pipe lining. Ruby-Collins self-performed 78% of the total scope, including open-cut pipe replacement, bypass pumping, manhole installation, cast-in-place concrete structures, restoration, and testing — delivering the project under contract value through value engineering.
This project included work throughout Dekalb County which presented challenges with several different permitting authorities. The project locations also varied from work in the roadway to work deep in the woods off the road.
