Trenchless rehabilitation of an existing 60-inch RCP storm line for the US Army Corps of Engineers running through Fondulac Dam, located on tributary streams to the Illinois Waterway providing flood control for East Peoria, Illinois. Ruby-Collins installed 380 linear feet of 54-inch diameter Sekisui spiral wound PVC lining through the existing pipe to extend the service life of this aging flood control infrastructure.
Construction presented several technical obstacles including rainstorms causing the pipe to flood during active work, requiring dewatering operations and schedule adjustments. Crews also encountered concrete previously poured throughout the length of the line on the bottom of the pipe, which required removal before lining installation could proceed. Despite these challenging conditions, the rehabilitation was successfully completed, restoring structural integrity to this critical flood control component.
