Renovation of the raw water pump station includes installation of one additional 1,830 GPM vertical turbine pump to convey raw water from Lake Lanier to the existing raw water settling pond and passive screen intake structure. Construction of a new raw water pipeline connects the intake to the expanded 2.5 MGD water treatment plant. XX Two new water treatment trains feature feed pumps, strainers, static mixers, and Suez Zeeweed 1500 RMS ultrafiltration membrane units. Following filtration, two clearwells and a 1,750 GPM triplex high service pump station were constructed to convey finished water to the distribution system. The project includes a new filtration and administration building, complete chemical feed systems, electrical infrastructure, plant SCADA system, yard piping, and all sitework. XXRuby-Collins also completed dredging of two sludge ponds during construction of the City of Buford’s new water treatment plant. The dredging process removed accumulated sediment, silt, and muck that had built up over the years, increasing water depth and pond capacity to enable more efficient plant operations and sludge management.
