Job Overview

The Pipefitter is a skilled craft role responsible for the precision installation of process piping systems and mechanical equipment within water/wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, and storage tanks. This position involves laying, aligning, and joining various pipe materials for new construction, expansions, and renovations.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Precision Installation: Lay, align, and join process piping (Ductile Iron, PVC, Stainless Steel, RCP) using mechanical, flanged, and restrained joint systems.
  • Blueprint Execution: Interpret P&IDs, mechanical blueprints, and grade stakes to ensure installations meet precise elevations and specifications.
  • Mechanical Support: Assist in the installation and alignment of process equipment, including pumps, valves, clarifiers, and mixers.
  • Rigging & Fitting: Select and use tools for cutting, threading, and connecting pipe. Manage rigging and signaling for the safe movement of heavy pipe and equipment.
  • Technical Verification: Use pipe lasers and transit levels to verify slopes, inverts, and alignments.
  • Safety Leadership: Ensure OSHA standards for trench safety (shoring/shielding) and Confined Space Entry.
  • System Testing: Support hydrostatic and pressure testing of completed piping systems to ensure leak-free operation.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience: Proven experience in pipefitting, specifically within plant, industrial, or heavy civil environments.
  • Travel & Location: Must live within a commutable distance to the job site and be willing to work out of town during the week. Note: Travel per diem is provided, and crews are home on the weekends.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with pipe-cutting equipment, threading machines, and precision leveling tools.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to perform strenuous physical labor for extended periods in outdoor elements (extreme heat, rain, or cold). Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly, kneel, crouch, and safely navigate active construction terrains.
  • Safety Mindset: A strict commitment to company safety policies and OSHA standards, specifically regarding personal protective equipment (PPE), trench safety, fall protection, and working safely around heavy equipment.
  • Compliance: Must be authorized to work in the US and pass a pre-employment drug screening/physical.
