Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and physically capable Heavy Civil Laborer to join our team. This role is essential for the execution of large-scale infrastructure projects, requiring a mix of manual labor, equipment support, and specialized utility work.

The ideal candidate is someone who takes pride in high-quality workmanship and is comfortable working in a fast-paced, heavy construction environment.

While you will be based out of the Atlanta metro area, this position requires a commitment to traveling and working out of town (per diem provided and home on the weekends).

Primary Duties

  • Underground Utilities: Assist with the installation of water, sewer, and storm drainage systems, including pipe laying and jointing.
  • Earthwork & Excavation: Perform hand-digging, fine grading, and spotting for heavy equipment operators to ensure safe and precise excavation.
  • Trench Safety: Install and maintain trench shoring, shielding, and sloping systems in accordance with safety protocols.
  • Concrete & Formwork: Assist in setting forms for curbs, gutters, or drainage structures and support the pouring and finishing process.
  • Site Maintenance: Maintain a clean and organized job site, manage material inventory, and ensure all tools are properly staged and maintained.
  • Travel Operations: Cooperate with crew members during out-of-town assignments, maintaining high productivity and camaraderie.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Previous experience in the construction industry is required. Specific experience in heavy civil or underground utility construction (pipe laying, earthwork, or sitework) is highly preferred.
  • Location & Travel: Must live within a commutable distance to the Atlanta metro area. Candidates must be willing and available to work out of town during the week. Per diem is provided for travel; crews are typically home on the weekends.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to read a tape measure, use basic power tools, and understand grade stakes or laser levels is a plus.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to perform strenuous physical labor for extended periods, including lifting up to 50 lbs, kneeling, crouching, and working in outdoor elements (heat, rain, or cold).
  • Safety Mindset: A strong commitment to OSHA safety standards, specifically regarding trench safety and working around heavy machinery.
  • Other Requirements: Must be authorized to work in the US and pass a pre-employment drug screening and physical.
