Job Overview
This Crawler Crane Operator, located in Savannah, GA, is responsible for the safe, precise operation and daily maintenance of a 100-ton lattice boom crawler crane within the active, high-consequence/priority footprint of large scaled/complex water and wastewater treatment plant infrastructure projects.
This position is critical for executing high-tolerance, heavy lifts – including the installation of large-diameter process piping, structural steel, and major process equipment such as pumps, clarifiers, mixers, and digesters.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Execute high-tolerance, critical lifts of heavy process equipment, structural steel, and piping systems within constrained, active plant footprints.
- Continuously monitor track-bearing pressure, ground conditions, and crane matting – especially when operating near active excavations, underground utilities, or newly backfilled areas.
- Verify all rigging setups (including slings, shackles, and spreader bars) and strictly adhere to crawler-specific load charts based on boom length, jib angle, and counterweight setups.
- Maintain constant, clear radio and hand-signal communication with Riggers and the Crane Foreperson to safely navigate blind lifts and tight clearance zones.
- Perform daily pre-operational inspections, monitor track tension, grease crawler assemblies, and document daily crane logs to ensure optimal machine performance.
- Strictly adhere to company, OSHA, and site-specific safety protocols.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Must hold a current, active crane operator certification accredited by the NCCCO (Lattice Boom Crawler – LBC), NCCER (Lattice Boom), or OECP equivalent.
- Proven experience operating lattice boom crawler cranes of 100 tons or greater in heavy civil, industrial, or water/wastewater treatment plant environments.
- Expert command of crawler load charts, multi-part reeving, structural crane limits, and complex rigging math.
- Ability to interpret site plans, utility drawings, and crane lift plans to understand equipment positioning and underground hazards.
- Must have reliable transportation and live within a commutable distance to the Savannah, GA area.
- Commitment to company, OSHA, and NCCCO safety policies and standards.
- Must be authorized to work in the US and pass a pre-employment drug screening/physical.
