Descripción del puesto

The Foreman is a key on-site leader responsible for the daily execution, safety, and productivity of field crews across heavy civil, water/wastewater treatment plant, or infrastructure projects. This role involves direct, hands-on supervision of self-perform crews, ensuring tasks – ranging from earthwork and structural concrete to piping and mechanical installations – are completed safely, efficiently, and to precise project specifications and quality standards

Duties & Responsibilities

Ejecución y control de calidad

  • Oversee and direct daily field operations, ensuring crews hit production targets across various construction phases (e.g., excavation, grading, formwork, concrete placement, or piping).
  • Read, interpret, and accurately implement construction blueprints, structural drawings, and site specifications to ensure proper alignment, elevations, and grade.
  • Conduct regular quality checks on work in progress to ensure compliance with project plans, municipal codes, and quality benchmarks, minimizing rework.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve immediate on-site conflicts, material shortages, or changing site conditions to keep production moving forward smoothly.

Liderazgo en materia de personal y seguridad

  • Supervise and lead a dedicated field crew, ensuring members are properly trained in specific trade tasks, rigging, equipment operation, and general craftsmanship.
  • Enforce 100% compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies, serving as the frontline advocate for trench safety, fall protection, confined spaces, and PPE compliance.
  • Oversee the safe operation, daily inspection, and basic maintenance of tools, vehicles, and heavy equipment assigned to the crew.

Coordinación de proyectos y elaboración de informes

  • Coordinate daily with the Project Superintendent to schedule material deliveries, equipment needs, and labor allocations to align with look-ahead schedules.
  • Monitor daily material yields and inventory, ensuring supplies are handled properly and stored securely on-site.
  • Maintain accurate, timely daily logs, including crew timesheets, production quantities, safety huddle notes, and documentation of any unforeseen site conditions or utility strikes.

Cualificaciones y requisitos

  • Experience: Minimum 5+ years of experience in heavy civil, water/wastewater treatment plant, or underground utility construction, with a proven track record of supervising field crews.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong foundational knowledge of general civil construction methodologies (e.g., earthwork, concrete forming/pouring, site logistics, or heavy piping systems).
  • Plan Reading: Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, site plans, structural drawings, and grade stakes.
  • Equipment Knowledge: Familiarity with heavy equipment operations (excavators, loaders, dozers) and the ability to direct equipment safely in tight or complex work zones.
  • Mindset: A strong commitment to safety and quality with a “do it right the first time” mentality and a focus on mentoring crew members.
  • Leadership & Communication: Clear communication and problem-solving skills necessary to direct a crew and collaborate productively with superintendents and project managers.
  • Compliance: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (MVR), ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening/physical, and authorized to work in the US.
